Staffing a race weekend is a logistics job

Bristol Motor Speedway fills up fast. When the gates open for a NASCAR weekend or a night race, you need hands in place days before the first car rolls in, and hands ready to strike it all down after the last fan leaves. That is not a job you fill with a few phone calls the week of. It is setup, teardown, event labor, and ushers, staged and dispatched on a schedule. We do that work from our Johnson City base, a short run up I-81 to the track.

Step one, you call and a real person answers

No phone tree, no bot. You tell us the dates, the shifts, the roles, and how many bodies you need per gate or per crew. We tell you straight what we can cover and what we cannot. If you need forty for teardown starting at 11 p.m. Sunday, we say yes or we tell you what we can actually deliver. Step two, we pre-screen and build the roster

Every worker we send is a pre-screened W-2 employee of Appalachian Labor. That matters at a venue the size of the Speedway. We carry the workers' comp. We run payroll and handle the tax paperwork. You are not sorting 1099 questions in the middle of a race weekend. We check that people can do the work, show up on time, and take direction from your event lead.

Step three, we dispatch from Johnson City

We stage crews and roll them to Bristol on your schedule. Same-day when something falls through, next-morning for a planned shift. The track sits right off the I-81 and I-26 corridors, so a crew from Johnson City, Kingsport, Elizabethton, or Jonesborough is a short drive out. If a worker no-shows at 6 a.m., we do not hand that back to you. We work a replacement and keep you posted until hands are on site. That is how we run every request across the Tri-Cities.

Step four, teardown and the days after

Race weekend does not end when the checkered flag drops. Teardown is its own shift, often overnight, and it is where a lot of agencies come up short on bodies. We plan the strike crew when we plan setup, so the numbers are locked before the weekend starts. Need people Monday and Tuesday to finish the load-out and clear the vendor lots? We keep them on the roster and send them back the same way we sent the setup crew.

Why W-2 crews matter for an event this size

A big public event draws scrutiny. W-2 staffing keeps the workers' comp, the payroll taxes, and the worker classification on us, not on you. If you have run events with 1099 labor, you know the risk when something goes wrong on a crowded concourse. We take that piece off your plate so you can run the event and not the paperwork.
